Sifu Eugenia Chau embarked on her martial arts journey at the age of 12. With an extensive background in Karate, Taekwondo, Hapkido, Kung Fu, Kumdo, and Lion dance, she honed her skills and fostered a deep appreciation for the cultural nuances embedded within each discipline.
Driven by a profound passion for lion and dragon dance, Sifu Eugenia made a pivotal decision to dedicate her studies to these captivating art forms. In 2006, under the guidance of Sifu Kong Kit and studying under the Do Pai style of lion dancing, she founded the Vancouver Chinese Lion Dance Team. This marked the inception of a mission to both promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage encapsulated in the art of lion and dragon dance.
In 2023, Sifu Eugenia elevated her commitment by joining Hong De Canada Cultural & Athletic Association under the mentorship of Sifu Michael Yong. This significant step not only expanded her knowledge but also deepened her cultural appreciation within the organization, further enriching her understanding of lion dancing. With this wealth of experience and expertise, Sifu Eugenia continues to actively educates others to perpetuate the traditions of lion and dragon dance, safeguarding their cultural significance for future generations.
